Expanded proof of vaccination laws are now in force in Western Australia.

Anyone 16 and over must be double vaccinated to enter all hospitality and entertainment venues, along with gyms, hospitals and bottle shops.

Premier Mark McGowan said the measures are in place for the safety of all West Australians and could remain for years.

“It’ll be a big change for people, particularly in regional WA but this is required in order to protect the community and to make sure we get our vaccination levels up," Mr McGowan said.

“If you get vaccinated, you’ll be able to live a relatively normal life, you’ll be able to work in a whole range of industries, just like everyone else."

Venues will be responsible for ensuring patrons are double jabbed.

“We can’t have a police officer at every bottle shop, at every pub, at every venue it applies to. But obviously, if reports come in of people not doing the right thing, or breaking the law, fines can be applied," Mr McGowan said.
