Police are hunting a group of vandals who targeted a rescue vessel in Mandurah.

CCTV footage shows three people walk onto the jetty where Mandurah Marine Rescue's Spirit of Mandurah vessel was docked around 10pm on Saturday.

Mandurah Marine Rescue Commander John Stewart told 7NEWS the trio then threw spotlights into the water.

“We can see that they’ve gone inside we can see the spotlights that we use of a nighttime, handheld spotlights, they have been taken out some have been thrown into the water,” he said.

The vandals also deployed the life raft and threw that overboard as well.

The vessel is now out of action until the life raft can be repacked into a metal container, the gas cylinder that deploys the raft is recharged and emergency supplies like food and water are replaced.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
