Nanga Road Bridge at Lane Poole Reserve could be open by the end of the week as interim works get underway.

The bridge was closed two weeks ago after an inspection by Main Roads found the condition of some of the bridge piers posed a public safety concern.

This meant all access to the Nanga Brook area would need to be via Waroona, which adds around 10 minutes for those travelling from Pinjarra and nearly an hour for those coming from Dwellingup.

The closure was expected to be in place for a significant amount of time, but the Shire of Murray has since confirmed Main Roads should finish the works by the end of this week, weather permitting.

The bridge will reopen to pedestrians, bikes, passenger vehicles and passenger vehicles with caravans, up to a weight limit of four tonnes.
