Peel Thunder coach Geoff Valentine admits it's disappointing their clash with East Perth has been moved from Leederville Oval this weekend.
The West Australian Football Commission made the announcement on Thursday to move the game to New Choice Homes Park in East Fremantle due to the poor state of the playing surface at Leederville.
Valentine said the ground has been unsuitable for weeks now.
"It's a little bit disappointing it happened so late," he said.
"I watched some vision of the action at Leederville Oval a couple of weeks ago and even then you could see the ground was in really poor condition and with the rain last week it was only going to get worse.
"It just doesn't get a rest, it's played on every week."
Executive Manager – WAFL and Talent Scott Baker said the game will still be played as scheduled, just at a different ground.
“In the best interests of player safety, we have reached an outcome that will still align with the current Round 15 schedule,” Baker said.
“We understand this is unfortunate for the East Perth Football Club and local fans, but we need to ensure players can play football on a suitable playing surface."
Valentine said something needs to be done to accommodate the growing number of football teams.
"There's lots of clubs and teams and particularly with the emergence of women's footy where clubs are sharing (ovals)," he said.
"Even at Mandurah, sharing the ground with the Mustangs and at Leederville Oval you've got East Perth and Subiaco's program, the colts program and the ground just can't handle the wear and tear.
"Maybe it's time the State Government and the Footy Commission really start to get to work and work out how all of these teams and clubs are going to be able to get out on the ground each week."
The Peel Thunder and East Perth game will kick off at 2.10pm on Saturday at New Choice Homes Park.
