A contractor has died while working on a farming property about 20km south of Mandurah.

Emergency services were called to the property on Thompson Road in Nirimba around 2.35pm on Friday after the man was found unresponsive.

“It appears an electrical contractor, who is believed to be a man aged in his 30s, was working on a power pole at the property and was involved in some form of incident during his work activities,” a police spokesperson said.

An investigation into the man's death is now underway.

Western Australia’s Director of Energy Safety Saj Abdoolakhan extended his deepest condolences to the electrician’s loved ones.

“Information and findings so far indicate the electrician was working on a private power pole on the consumer’s property when this tragedy occurred,” Mr Abdoolakhan said.

“It appears that the installation was still energised with live electricity at the time.

“Our investigation is focused on ascertaining what caused the accident to help prevent another similar tragedy in the future.”

Building and Energy will prepare a report for the Coroner.
