Mandurah has claimed back-to-back wins at the 2023 WA Tourism Top Town Awards.

After taking out the gold in 2022, Mandurah again received the top gong at last night's awards.

It comes after the Peel town won bronze at Australia's Top Tourism Awards in 2022 while the Mandurah Visitor Centre won gold at the Perth Airport Tourism Awards.

Mayor Rhys Williams said he was thrilled with the win.

"It's just a testament to the many businesses, our Visit Mandurah organisation and the community for really embracing a new approach to tourism," Mayor Williams said.

"Of course the Giants that have seen thousands of people come into our city over the last few months.

"It's just a really great indicator of the momentum that the City has got at the moment and we are really, really excited about it."

Geraldton was awarded silver in the Top Tourism Town Awards followed by Collie who claimed bronze.

Meanwhile, Dwellingup took out gold in the Tiny Tourism Town category.

Pemberton won silver and New Norcia won bronze.

The awards program is a major highlight of the State’s tourism calendar, with prizes eagerly coveted by destinations across Western Australia.

Visitor Centres enter the awards on behalf of their destination, and entrants are required to submit a short video, itinerary and editorial article which was reviewed by a panel of industry judges.

The public then had its say, with more than 8000 people casting a vote for their favourite Tiny, Small and Top Tourism Towns.

“Congratulations to this year’s winners of the Top Tourism Town Awards. Mandurah, Exmouth, and Dwellingup have all displayed an exceptional commitment to delivering high-quality visitor experiences,” Tourism Council WA CEO Evan Hall said.

“All medallists have impressed both an industry panel of judges and the public through consumer voting. They will now go on to represent Western Australia on a national level in the Australian Top Tourism Town Awards,” he said.
