Port Kennedy man charged after running over a person with a car in Warnbro

Mandurah Detectives have charged a 33-year-old man after an incident in Warnbro last night, Wednesday 10 August 2022.

About 8.20pm, the man attended a service station located on Warnbro Sound Ave, purchasing some items before returning to his Mitsubishi Lancer parked at the service station, when a man known to him, got into the front passenger side.

It will be alleged an altercation occurred between the men inside the vehicle before the 29-year-old victim exited the Mitsubishi and began to walk away.

It will further be alleged the male driver started the vehicle and accelerated forward, jumping the kerb and hitting the victim who became stuck underneath the vehicle.

A number of people who were nearby attempted to lift the vehicle off the victim. The victim was eventually pulled from underneath the vehicle and provided first aid by attending police officers before being conveyed by ambulance to Royal Perth Hospital.

The victim sustained third degree burns to his back and may have other serious injuries.

A 33-year-old man from Port Kennedy has been charged with:

  • With Intent to Harm, Did An Act Causing Bodily Harm; and
  • No Authority to Drive (fines suspended).

He is due to appear before the Rockingham Magistrates Court today, 11 August 2022.
