The State Government is set to fund $100 million in major upgrades to Rockingham and Safety Bay Senior Highschool.

The multi-million dollar commitment was announced today as part of the 2023-24 State Budget.

The upgrades are set to deliver a wide range of improvements to both education facilities, which were constructed in the 1970s.

It's hoped the upgrades will create a school environment with increased flexibility and support teachers in tailoring the curriculum to better meet the needs of students.

Rockingham Senior High School will receive $60 million of the investment for upgrades and specialist facilities.

As part of the upgrades, the Department will assess how to better integrate the Education Support Centre with the secondary school.

Safety Bay Senior High School will receive the other $40 million which will provide the school with specialist facilities, upgraded classrooms and refurbishments.

Premier Mark McGowan said he is committed to providing WA students with the best education facilities.

"Both Rockingham Senior High School and Safety Bay Senior High School were built nearly 50 years ago - times have changed and the layout and design of these schools no longer support the delivery of contemporary education," the Premier said.

"Our 100 million investment will deliver modern school facilities and engaging learning environments where local students can thrive and succeed."

The Department of Education will work closely with the schools over the next several months to establish the details of the redevelopments.
